PĪATA MAGAZINE

Disillusioned by local media (here in Christchurch) not returning my emails regarding the following inspirational kōtiro ataahua (beautiful girls) starting on their lives, careers and successes, I decided to create this magazine. It has to be said that should they have robbed the local dairy they would be on the front page of every newspaper…in the country???

Instead of being justifiably negative (there is already enough in the world) about local media’s lack of interest I had an inspired thought… actually it was an old thought revised… to create a magazine. A magazine that over the years I have meant to do here and there in many different forms but never happened, until now. Anyway, I have been inspired year after year by many of my ex & present students, whānau (family), my nieces & nephews (immediate & wider) and my daughter. So, this magazine is for them.

Photos in this magazine have been taken or given by the girls or supplied by their respective ‘sponsors’ and their associates. These people and/or companies have supported our girls and why I have supplied a sponsors’ page. I also believe that adding the Facebook pages of the girls will also help their future endeavours so if you have time please support them by liking or following them as they are worthy of this and it will validate their efforts.

It may be the first and only issue but I hope not. I hope to publish more magazines about inspirational people whether they are close to me or not and tell you about their journeys in efforts to support them and inspire those who read it.

Pīata means to sparkle or to shine...
